Florida eliminates Louisiana

Florida AAA’s (9 and 10s) defeated Louisiana Thursday, 4-1.
The win guaranteed Spring Hill a spot in today’s winners’ bracket games. The loss eliminated Louisiana from the World Series.
Florida’s Mason Arroyo and Alex Martin scored two runs in the bottom of the third inning on a double by Joey Wright.
Louisiana’s Eric Peterson scored his team’s only run in the  top of the fourth inning on a Drew Sessa single.
Florida responded in the bottom of the fourth when Derek Newman singled to left field, Nick Ramirez singled to center and  Brad Smith doubled, sending Newman home and giving Spring Hill a 3-1 lead.
Nic Pasarela scored the final run in the bottom of the fifth when he hit a triple into center field, then stole home.
Florida plays Georgia in today’s winners’ bracket game at 9:30 a.m.

S. Carolina (Midland) 6, Georgia (Newton
National) 1 (7 innings)
South Carolina put up five runs in the top of the seventh inning to eliminate Georgia, 6-1.
Casey Parker was 1-for-3 with two RBI in the win for South Carolina, while John Robert Rodgers was 2-for-3. Ricky Harrison earned the win for the Midland All-Stars in two innings of relief work.

Alabama (Troy Am.) 11, Texas (Henderson) 9

Hunter Baggett scored on an error in the top of the ninth inning to break a 9-9 tie and give Alabama the go-ahead run against Texas in a losers’ bracket game. Chase Smartt gave Alabama an insurance run, scoring on an RBI single by Brantley LeCroy.
Texas could not answer in the bottom half of the ninth and was eliminated from the World Series.
Robert Benton and Smartt paced Troy American with two RBI each.
